It is done! 😴

The Jam is over, long live the Jam! It was a blast. I am tired now.

After the first day I was worried that we wouldn't make it, but in the end we managed to ship something fairly polished and complete (if short). The last commit with peacememories' beautiful title screen unfortunately didn't go through in time, but you can marvel at it in the screenshots.

It's very neat that I got to flex my sound muscles again. All the music and most of the sound effects were made on a train, since I attended a birthday party in the middle of the jam. The mix is a bit off at times, but considering the circumstances, I think I did great. The soundtrack is adaptive and there's even a small easter egg. Peacememories did an amazing job on the art too, you really wouldn't know that this is the work of two coders ;)

I think we came up with a pretty interesting take on the theme. We specifically wanted to avoid having an NPC-ified player character involved, since we thought that was a bit too obvious. And because we aren't particularly great AI programmers. So instead of exchanging roles, we went with reversing the players role, in a way. Instead of taking items you put them back.

There's also the neat tie to GMTK and the Boss Keys series. I used the dungeon graphs in designing the level, and got turned around a few times because instead of growing, the explorable area keeps shrinking. The dungeon is solvable in both directions, have a try if you want!

Thanks to everyone involved, especially my great collaborator and all the other participants! I'm looking forward to checking out everyone else's games, after getting a bit of sleep :D
